Traffic Improvement Study
CT-35 & Farmingville Road
The Town of Ridgefield is partnering with engineering firm Hardesty & Hanover to conduct a comprehensive study aimed at fixing traffic congestion and safety issues along CT-35. The study will focus on the busy intersection at Farmingville Road and extend north to the Recreation Center.
What the study will do:
- Engineers will conduct 7-day traffic counts and speed studies during the school year to understand typical daily gridlock.
- The team will review three years of crash data to identify "high accident" spots and determine their causes.
- The study will explore several improvements, including:
- Optimizing traffic signal timing to keep cars moving.
- Potential road widening or restriping.
- Evaluating the need for a new traffic signal at the Recreation Center and Founders Hall driveway.
- Designing safer pedestrian crossings near the upcoming pickleball courts.
The final report will provide the Town with a clear roadmap for short-term fixes and long-term construction projects, ensuring smoother commutes and safer roads for all residents.
