Tick Testing for Ridgefield Residents
Just removed a tick and need to have it tested for tick-borne diseases?
If you're a Ridgefield resident and the tick has bitten a person (not an animal), you can have the tick tested for tick-borne diseases. This service is provided by the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station as a public service and there is no fee for tick identification and/or testing, but you do have to pay for the postage fee.
- Download the tick submission form
- Complete the form, making sure to include your email address. Your results will be emailed to you. (Take a picture or make a copy of the completed form for your record)
- SECURELY seal the tick in a Ziploc bag.
- Mail the tick and the form to the lab (address is on the submission form).
Important Notes:
- If you're submitting ticks for more than one person, please fill out one form for each individual.
- Place one tick per bag and match each bag with its corresponding form.
- Results typically take approximately two weeks. If you don't receive them, please check your spam folder or contact the lab at 203-974-8487.
Please remember: This test should not be used as a diagnostic tool. It identifies the tick and tests if the tick carries pathogens that cause certain tick-borne diseases, not if you or your child is infected. For any symptoms or follow-up care, please consult your doctor.
