Extreme Heat Advisory
As the high temperatures continue, please remember to take care of yourself, your neighbors, and your pets. Extreme heat can be dangerous - keep these prevention tips in mind:
- Stay in air-conditioned buildings as much as possible. Do not rely on a fan as your primary cooling device.
- Take cool showers or baths to lower your body temperature.
- Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and avoid direct sunlight.
- If you must be outdoors, limit your activity to the morning and evening hours.
- Take frequent breaks in shady areas so your body has a chance to cool down.
- Check on those most at-risk—including elderly neighbors and infants—several times a day.
- Never Leave Pets in Cars: Parked vehicles can reach life-threatening temperatures within minutes.
- Provide Shade & Water: If pets cannot be brought indoors, ensure they have constant access to fresh water and plenty of shade.
Stay hydrated, stay informed, and keep an eye out for signs of heat-related illness.
