The Town is seeking Experienced Firefighter/EMT’s or Experience Medics to become Firefighter/Medics.

Applicants MUST be in good physical condition, and of high moral character interested in a career in the Ridgefield Fire and EMS Services.

To qualify as an Experienced Firefighter/EMT’s or Firefighter/Paramedic Candidate- you must possess:

• State of CT EMT Certification or PARAMEDIC license
• Valid CPAT within one-year of August 2026.
• Verifiable history of providing emergency medical services at the certification level applying for
• If applying for an experienced Firefighter/EMT proof of Firefighter I & II

All Firefighter/Medic applicants must be at least 21 years of age, and all Experienced Firefighter/EMT candidates must be at least 18. 

All applicants must possess a valid vehicle operator’s license.

 Town of Ridgefield requires all candidates to have successfully passed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and must provide proof of valid CPAT effective no earlier than August 2025 or provide proof of enrollment and must pass the CPAT by the time of interviews.

Extra consideration will be given for prior fire and paramedic experience when we review applications. 

This position may work rotating 24-hour shifts scheduled after department training and orientation.

The full-time starting salary for a Firefighter/Paramedic mis at $65,513 per year but can be higher depending on experience, experience Firefighter/EMT may start at $63,513 but can be higher with career firefighter experience.  This position comes with a generous benefit package including a 401(a) with Town match, medical/dental/vision benefits, vacation and sick leave, holiday pay, short and long-term disability benefits.
