Since November 2015, Molly McGeehin has served as Ridgefield’s Town Treasurer. Though the position is part-time, it carries significant responsibility. Molly oversees the Town’s cash management and investment portfolio, ensuring funds are prudently invested in accordance with the Town’s investment policy. She carefully balances risk and return, monitors financial trends, and makes strategic decisions designed to safeguard taxpayer dollars while maximizing investment income.

In addition to managing investments, Molly oversees cash flow planning, banking relationships, and liquidity management. She is responsible for processing payroll for Town employees and issuing payments to vendors. She also manages the Town’s bond activity, including coordinating bond issuances and refinancing, monitoring debt service schedules, and ensuring compliance with all reporting and regulatory requirements. Through diligent oversight and forecasting, she ensures the Town maintains strong financial positioning and operational stability.

To further strengthen financial operations, Molly developed a comprehensive cash flow analysis report to optimize the use of Town funds. She revised internal policies, reduced administrative and banking fees, implemented best practices, and authored a detailed policies and procedures manual that serves as a lasting resource for the Treasurer’s office. She works collaboratively with the Ridgefield Board of Finance, the Comptroller, auditors, financial advisors, and other stakeholders to promote transparency and fiscal accountability.

Molly earned her undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Scranton, graduating magna cum laude. She became a Certified Public Accountant and later earned her MBA in Finance from the University of Connecticut. Before joining Ridgefield Town Hall, she held finance management roles at Coopers & Lybrand and Southern New England Telephone, and she operated her own firm, Ridgefield Accounting Systems, for many years.

Originally from Hazleton, Pennsylvania, Molly has called Ridgefield home for more than 35 years. She and her husband have raised two sons who were educated in the Ridgefield Public Schools.

Molly’s commitment to public service extends well beyond her professional role. She has served as treasurer for numerous community organizations, including the Ridgefield Public Library, the Farmingville and East Ridge Middle School PTAs, and the Ridgefield Wrestling Booster Club. She has also volunteered with the Earth Alliance Committee, the Garden of Ideas program, and Rides for Ridgefield.

A longtime advocate for conservation and environmental stewardship, Molly provided leadership for over a decade with RACE (Ridgefield Action Committee for the Environment), the Town’s first environmental agency. She currently volunteers her financial expertise to support the Pollinator Pathway and the Norwalk River Watershed Association.

Drawing on her background in finance and environmental advocacy, Molly wrote a regular Eco-Tips column for more than 10 years for The Ridgefield Press, addressing topics such as electric vehicles, recycling initiatives, climate change, energy tax credits, heating fuels, and solar energy. She continues to promote sustainability through public education, grant writing, panel discussions, school collaboration, and community initiatives aimed at improving Ridgefield’s environmental practices.

Molly is known for her organizational strength, efficiency, and problem-solving abilities. She approaches every challenge with integrity and dedication. She respects those who stand firmly behind their beliefs and strives to embody that same principle—following through on her commitments and serving as a trusted, engaged leader in the Ridgefield community.
